The Village for Children is a learning and residential community designed for young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Situated on a 66-acre lakeside property, the project is conceived as a small village that combines education, research, recreation, and residential living within a supportive natural environment.

The campus is organized around three primary components dedicated to learning, activities, and research. The architectural approach prioritizes well-being through careful consideration of acoustics, spatial organization, safety, and sensory experience. Floor-to-ceiling glazing establishes a strong connection to the surrounding landscape, while a restrained palette of natural materials, including white oak, creates a warm and calming atmosphere. Soft architectural lighting complements natural daylight and contributes to a comfortable interior environment.

A network of recreational, educational, and agricultural spaces extends into the landscape, encouraging interaction with nature and fostering community engagement. Residential cottages for young adults and their caretakers are integrated throughout the site, creating a campus that balances independence, support, and social connection.

Vehicular traffic is minimized to preserve the pedestrian character of the community, with circulation primarily accommodated through electric vehicles and landscaped pathways. Together, the buildings and landscape form a holistic environment designed to promote learning, well-being, and long-term growth.
